A firing of Mueller should lead to the creation of a modern-day analogue of the Senate Select Watergate Committee to investigate all matters involved in the Russian Federation scandals and Trump's obstruction of the investigation.
Lindsey Graham recently said, "Any effort to go after Mueller could be the beginning of the end of the Trump presidency, unless Mueller did something wrong", and, "Right now, I have no reason to believe Mueller is compromised".
Whether Manafort, former Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn or anyone else decides to strike a deal with the government is being closely watched by people in and outside the probe.
"I haven't given it any thought", Mr Trump told reporters.
A Mueller spokesperson declined comment for this story. Seemingly out of the blue, Trump starts attacking the Acting FBI director, along with his own attorney general Jeff Sessions.
