The Normandy Four leaders (Russia, Germany, France, Ukraine) are expected to have a telephone conversation within the current month, Ukraine's President Pyotr Poroshenko said after a meeting with the US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson on Sunday.
During a short visit to Poland ahead of the G20 summit in Hamburg, Germany, this week - on the sidelines of which he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin for the first time - USA leader Donald Trump called on Russia to "cease its destabilizing activities in Ukraine and elsewhere".
Tillerson said sanctions against Russian Federation would remain in place "until Moscow reverses its actions", including the return of the annexed Crimean peninsula.
Tillerson is in Ukraine to reaffirm American support as the country struggles with an insurgency in the east and attempts to crack down on corruption.
Earlier, the US state Department reported that the head of Department Rex Tillerson July 9, will pay a working visit to Kiev to meet with Poroshenko.
It was unclear how the Russians might react to Mr. Tillerson's comments insisting that Moscow restore Ukraine's territorial integrity. Kiev and its Western backers accuse Russian Federation of supporting rebel forces in eastern Ukraine, who do not recognize the post-coup government.

Volker will oversee US efforts to press Ukraine and Russian Federation to fully comply with the Minsk Agreement, which lays out a roadmap for reducing the conflict that has claimed some 10,000 lives over the past three years. Under the Obama administration, the US had taken a hands-off approach to Minsk, allowing the Europeans to take the lead.
"We are disappointed by the lack of progress under the Minsk agreement", he said at a joint briefing with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko after they held talks. "It was planned and started in Moscow".
Speaking to a group of reform advocates at the USA ambassador's residence, Tillerson praised Ukraine's progress in combating graft but made clear that more must be accomplished. Washington calls it an "annexation" and says that the sanctions will not be lifted until the peninsula becomes part of Ukraine again.
"Most of all we want peace in Ukraine".
Kiev and its European allies have been alarmed by Mr Trump's determination to improve relations with the Kremlin, despite its role in Ukraine and alleged meddling in last year's United States presidential election campaign.
"We came to agreement with the secretary-general that Ukraine and the whole world today need strong and decisive actions by the United Nations like never before", Poroshenko said.
