Arkansas-based Tyson Foods Inc. says one of its employees was among those shot at a congressional baseball practice Wednesday.
Mika is one of at least three members of the GOP baseball team who were injured in the shooting, along with House Majority Whip Steve Scalise and Zack Barth, a legislative correspondent in the office of Rep. Roger Williams (R-Texas).
Mika's family released a statement Thursday saying Mika suffered "massive trauma", needs breathing assistance and will need more surgery.
Mika, an Oakland County native, now works as the director of government relations at Tyson Foods in Washington.
He says the company is "deeply concerned" about Mika and his family.

None of the members of the Arkansa delegation were attending the baseball practice in Alexandria, Va., outside the capital.
His family also mentioned in their statement that Mika had once served on the staff of Michigan State Representative David Palsrok.
"You will see how many people Matt has impacted in a positive way and the type of guy he is and he really is loved", he said.
Mika was serving as a volunteer coach.
