Had the film been edited to limit the duration under 2 hours, people might have felt attached to Wonder Woman and her cause; many including this scribe felt a little let down with the talk, talk and talk when "action speak louder than words" could have done the trick.
"We've seen more and more stronger female co-stars and supporting roles and that's been great, but this is really the first time, I think, where it's been a completely female-driven movie, female lead, super-hero movie that has done incredibly well". Her naivete and passion for uncompromised justice make her story enjoyable and encouraging, if not bordering on corny at times.
Always referring to herself as Diana, Princess of Themyscira, Wonder Woman is a beacon of righteousness, decency and justice. The question is whether humanity is worthy of being saved.
The same was true for the other DCEU films prior to Wonder Woman; each had big openings but substantial drop offs the week after.

These guys are giants, they play at a different level to most of us, and they kept coming back. He added: "I think that is fair (we need to be more clinical)". "Today we've done that".

Not only will "Wonder Woman" hold on to the top spot at the box office for the second weekend in a row with an estimated $57.2 million, it's also bringing in a holdover total higher than its DC predecessors, "Batman v Superman" and "Suicide Squad".
Beyond my mild frustration with how polished Gadot's Diana is, there are a few elements that certainly weaken the film. There could have been no better choice for Amazonian Queen and her sister than veterans Robin Wright and Connie Nielsen who are awesome in every scene they are part of. Also weakening the film is the backstory of the villainous god of war, which seemed hastily put together and the plot twist that accompanied it wasn't almost as satisfyingly shocking as it should have been. I am still waiting for my muscular, hairy-legged, mascara-less superhero to kick ass on the silver screen, but it seems her arrival may take longer than anticipated.
When she discovers Steve Trevor (Chris Pine, Star Trek Beyond) a pilot who has crashed on the island and tells them of the war that's happening in the world, Diana vows to help fight alongside him as well as take down General Ludendorff (Danny Huston, TV's American Horror Story) and Isabel Maru (Elena Anaya) who are creating a deadly gas to be used by the German Army. But I think Gadot's Diana Prince will do just fine for now.
