Anthony Joshua is willing to face Wladimir Klitschko in a world heavyweight title rematch after the Ukrainian revealed it is the only bout that could tempt him to fight on.
Making the third defence of his IBF title, the 27-year-old Briton also became the WBA champion and silenced his critics who had suggested that the fighter had neither the punch resistance, intelligence or variety to succeed Klitschko as the world's leading heavyweight.
"I'm not ideal but I'm trying", Joshua said.
The victory means that Joshua now holds three of the four world championships on offer in the heavyweight division.
"I'm happy, if anything, that it was a great fight, because there was a lot of hype, a lot of attention around the fight, and I'm glad it lived up to expectations".
Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn revealed the heavyweight next plans to fight towards the year's end. However his defeat of Klitschko, which also earned him the WBA title, came after he had had to prove his heart by recovering from an exceptionally-heavy sixth-round knockdown.
For now, Joshua will take time to reflect on his achievement of beating Klitschko in only his 19th paid contest, while deciding how to spend his $19.4 million purse.
But the fight turned again later in the fifth when Joshua suddenly became static on the ropes after punching himself out.
Joshua felt that he faced the better version of Klitschko in the ring.
