For a higher performance for the standalone Daydream VR headset, Google will be working with Qualcomm and use the company's Snapdragon 835 processor. Key to the design is what Google calls "World Sense", which means the headsets can monitor the environment and accurately track your position without the need for extra sensors.

A standalone VR headset is one that would allow more consumers to try VR technology-without requiring they have an a computer that could run the content nor a smartphone. For this, you will not need any external sensors. YouTube is also getting a VR space where you can connect with friends and watch videos as if you were in the same room.

So there's going to be a new UI manager that'll give users complete access to the system whilst in VR, so a new dashboard will be able to open on top of any app allowing them to check notifications, change settings or switch apps easily.
It added that Samsung's Galaxy S8 and S8+ smartphones will be Daydream-ready following a software update this summer.

Google Home users are going to see some new features, including hands-free calling, and the ability to control select appliances. The hardware shuts out any view or sound of people physically near you, not many people own headsets yet, and interactions inside virtual settings are still limited.
