Ricky Stenhouse, Jr., edged Joplin's Jamie McMurray to win NASCAR's spring race at Talladega, his first victory in 158 starts in the sport's top series.
It's always special when a first-time victor finds his way to Victory Lane and Stenhouse joined the club on Sunday with his thrilling Talladega victory. "He got to my back bumper and actually hit me, and I thought that was going to shoot me forward". "Pulling into Victory Lane and seeing Jack and Danica standing there together, they're the same height (laughter), it was super special".
"We've been awful for a long time", he said. "I had to ask Brad Keselowski how to start a race from the pole because it's been so long".
Stenhouse started from the pole and praised the power from his Doug Yates-built engine for the speed.
Patrick hasn't won in 164 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series races, but she got her only IndyCar victory in her 50th start in the series.
The race was stopped for almost 27 minutes because of an accident that saw AJ Allmendinger's vehicle flipped on its roof with 19 laps remaining. AJ Allmendinger made contact with Chase Elliott, spinning him into several others.
Much of the delay in racing was so workers could turn Allmendinger's vehicle back on to its wheels so Allmendinger could exit.
With 44 laps to go, green-flag pit stops began cycling through. Suarez and Kenseth, though, didn't get to the pit commitment line by the time Keselowski crossed the start/finish line and pit road closed. He started the race from the pole and showed he had the fastest Ford all afternoon.
"Yeah, it was very disappointing", Earnhardt said.
Hamlin led the race's second-most laps at 43.
Fatah leads local polls in West Bank cities
And in Nablus, another major city, Fatah won 11 of 15 seats, but only after forming an alliance with Islamist candidates. A man looks for his name on a voter's list at a polling station in the West Bank city of Nablus, Saturday, May 13, 2017.
"Now, we've finally got all those pieces in place to make sure we can maintain that speed and maintain that performance", Stenhouse said.
The third caution came out when No. 21 Ryan Blaney spun out after making contact with Ricky Stenhouse Jr. with 27 laps remaining.
With five top-10 finishes in the season's first ten races, Stenhouse and his team have stepped things up. The three drivers are listed with 9/1 odds to win this weekend.
Stenhouse led the first 13 laps of the race and didn't lead again until the final lap in overtime. Haley, who drives for GMS Racing in trucks, missed the first two races of the season because he was under 18.
Kasey Kahne moved up to fifth by the finish and Kurt Busch was sixth.
Next week, NASCAR will head to Kansas Speedway for the Go Bowling 400. Stage 2 was led entirely by Joe Gibbs Racing's Denny Hamlin.
Justin Haley, who turned 18 a couple weeks ago, won the ARCA race Saturday at Talladega.
It's nearly race time at Talladega Superspeedway, as the 2017 installment of the GEICO 500 begins at 1 p.m. A former Xfinity Series champion, Stenhouse also won Rookie of the Year in the Cup Series in 2013. The victory makes him eligible for the All-Star race later this month, and likely a slot in NASCAR's playoffs.
Spencer Davis was third in the race postponed Friday because of rain. The 29-year-old edged Kyle Busch in the closing moments of the Monster Energy Series event. Austin Theriault was fourth, followed by Shane Lee, Gus Dean, Bobby Gerhart, Riley Herbst, Tom Hessert and Bo LeMastus. "This vehicle was so fast today, qualifying on the pole, get the win".
