"I will continue to play cricket at the domestic level", he said.
"At the moment I haven't thought about the future plans, you always try to do better but I haven't yet decided". He is an extremely talented cricketer and has a very good cricket brain.
But the journey was not without regrets and challenges.
"It was my dream to bring Pakistan the World Cup 2015 [glory], but it could not come true", he said.
Misbah has the record of being Pakistan's skipper in most Test matches. From 2010-2017 he led Pakistan in 53 matches winning 24, losing 18 and 11 draws. He has made 4951 runs for Pakistan at an average of over 45 and at a strike rate of 44.48.
Remarkably, no one in the long history of Test match cricket has managed more centuries than Misbah beyond the age of 40. High highest score in T20 was 87.
Misbah backed Sarfraz to also lead Pakistan in test matches after he quits. "Instead of criticising personalities, it's better if we start talking positively about Pakistan cricket".
Meanwhile, veteran all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez was the most notable exclusion from the Pakistan Test squad, which will be led by Misbah-ul-Haq.
Civilian casualties in Iraq, Syria undercut US victories
Three policemen were among the dead while the rest were civilians, and a number of police were also wounded, the officials said. The offensive is part of a wider campaign launched last October to retake the entire city, which Daesh overran in mid-2014.
He confirmed the three match test series in West Indies starting from later this month would be his final for Pakistan.
The West Indies and Pakistan teams both arrived in Guyana yesterday after the Pakistanis won the T20 series 3-1 on Sunday at the Queen's Park Oval, Port of Spain.
West Indies batsmen were baffled by the googlies of Shadab in the Twenty20 series in which the leg-spinner took 10 wickets and won player of the series award in his debut worldwide series as Pakistan clinched the series 3-1.
Following a duck in a dramatic second-innings collapse that saw Pakistan crash to an innings-and-18-run defeat in Melbourne, Misbah, in a despondent, unfiltered reaction, admitted he was unsure of his future in worldwide cricket. "He [Misbah] has announced his retirement on a good note. All this is to Misbah's credit as he was an example for the team and an ambassador for Pakistan", Shahryar Khan added.
But Misbah's batting form dipped dramatically during the Australia tour, scoring only 76 runs in three test matches.
"We will going to give him a proper farewell", said Shaharyar.
The team captain rejected an impression that he made a retirement announcement under any pressure.
Wasim stressed that filling Misbah's shoes would be a hard task but whoever is appointed skipper should be supported by the PCB.
