The Worcester County District Attorney has scheduled a 2 p.m. press conference to reveal more details on the arrest of Vanessa Marcotte's alleged killer.

Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. made the announcement at a press conference Saturday.
Angelo Colon-Ortiz, a 31-year-old Worcester man, was arrested early Saturday morning, April 15, in connection with Marcotte's death.

Colon-Ortiz is facing charges of aggravated assault, aggravated assault and battery, and assault with intent to rape. DA Early said an alert state trooper in Worcester saw a man and a vehicle that matched the Marcotte murder suspect's description, and did a cheek DNA swab test that eventually led to Ortiz's arrest. The suspect allegedly lives in the area where the murder took place. Her hands, feet and part of her head were burned, sources said.
