The F-Pace was the auto manufacturer's first SUV and an insight into the kinds of cars Jaguar will be making in the future. The Jaguar F-Pace was actually the underdog of the competition - having beat out in the main category 20 competitors from around the world - and in the last round of voting surging in front of the Audi Q5 and VW Tiguan.
Not only did the Jaguar F-Pace win the overall award, it also picked up the 2017 World Car Design of the Year trophy too.
In other World Car of the Year category awards announced today, the Mercedes-Benz E-class beat the BMW 5-Series and the Volvo S90 / V90 to win the 2017 World Luxury Car. More than enough to make it the World Car of the Year.
This year's World Car of the Year awards were overseen by 75 jurors comprised of motoring journalists and other experts from around the world.
These are the latest in a line of major honours for the F-PACE since its April 2016 introduction.
The brace of awards is the first overall success for Jaguar at the World Car Awards.

On top of this the F-Pace was also awarded the World Car Design award, with the SUV showcasing Jaguar's design pedigree. "Winning these two awards endorses the talent and great work of our teams that have delivered the world's most practical sports auto and Jaguar's fastest selling vehicle", Ralf Speth, CEO of Jaguar Land Rover, said in a statement.
The Jaguar F-PACE, priced from £34,730 is available to order now at Jaguar UK retailers. There were doubts regarding the durability and power of the Jaguar SUV. The lowest version of the Jaguar F-Pace starts at the price of $42,065.
Engine options for the F-PACE range from the efficient and innovative four-cylinder 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel, with Carbon dioxide emissions as low as 126g/km* to the high-performance 380PS, supercharged V6 petrol model that can accelerate from 0-62mph (0-100km/h) in just 5.5 seconds.
