The BC provincial election campaign has officially begun.
Taking questions at Government House, Clark said her party's platform is the only one that is costed and won't require tax increases.
- Linda Kayfish, the sister of a health researcher who was sacked by the province in 2012 and later killed himself, accused Clark at a news conference of being "callous and cynical" in her government's response to a recent report by British Columbia's Office of the Ombudsperson about the firings.
But the NDP refuses to directly challenge the austerity policies of the Liberals, or even to roll back Campbell's tax cuts.
The Liberal party called for an investigation Friday, alleging the NDP breached the Personal Information Protection Act by sharing its lists of supporters with "politically friendly" groups without the consent of individuals on the list.

The May 9 election is shaping up as a contest of freezes, with the BC Liberals promising to freeze income tax rates and NDP leader John Horgan pledging a freeze on BC Hydro rates for an unspecified period. "People care about having more money in their pocket".

Another battle is Metro Vancouver bridge tolls, which the BC Liberals promise to cap at $500 a year for and the NDP vows to eliminate. "They're like a ship without a rudder now; they're all over the map", he said.
James said the NDP is committed to making life more affordable for people by freezing B.C. Hydro rates if the party wins the election.
The Liberals had announced over the weekend that drivers would pay no more than $500 a year on the now tolled Port Mann and Golden Ears bridges, as well as on the future Pattullo Bridge and the bridge to replace the George Massey tunnel.
Carole James, the incumbent NDP candidate in Victoria-Beacon Hill, said she's gratified that the Liberals have finally discovered Vancouver Island after years of neglect.
"B.C.is just getting started", she added. She announced plans to teach coding starting in Grade 6, establish an "innovation hub" in Vancouver's Robson Square featuring a new University of British Columbia data science centre, and create 1,000 new post-secondary spaces in science, technology, engineering and math.
The poll also shows 17 per cent think Horgan is the most trustworthy.
