In its place, Dunkin' will start serving a new "Frozen Dunkin' Coffee", a drink made with coffee extract, sugar and milk.
The Coffee Coolatta is dead; long live the Coffee Coolatta. Business Insider notes that a large Frozen Mocha Coffee Coolatta has 990 calories and 133 grams of sugar, and a large Frozen Coffee with cream has 840 calories and 123 grams of sugar. The large skim version will have 550 calories and 125 grams of sugar.
"Just as specific wines pair well with cheese, certain donut flavors offer an excellent complement to coffee", said Dunkin Donuts in a release. Paul Racicot, Dunkin's director of culinary innovation, expressed a need to, in a terrifying turn of phrase, "contemporize our frozen platform".

The chain, known for its coffee and doughnuts, has been expanding its menu in recent years to include items from breakfast sandwiches and bagels to Coolattas and macchiatos.
Fuqua told a media gathering earlier this week that the reason for the Coffee Coolatta's retirement is that it "isn't good enough". Dubbed the "Dunkin' Energy Punch Powered by Monster Energy", the drink will, according to the Boston Herald, combine a can of Monster Energy with Dunkin' blue raspberry or strawberry fruit Coolatta flavors, served over ice. Last summer, the chain launched cold brew coffee, something that Dunkin' says helped "democratize" the drink.
"We have to continue to innovate against coffee, because of its importance to us as a business", said Anthony Bonitatibus, a brand marketing manager at Dunkin'.
